Tyler A. P. Carey
Tyler Carey was born in upstate New York and raised in Athens, Ohio. He attended Ohio University where he majored in philosophy before transferring to August State University (now Augusta University). At Augusta, Tyler was chair of the Student Conduct Board – the student-ran judicial tribunal for campus affairs – and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Policitcal Science with a minor in Philosophy.
After graduation, Tyler did his first year of law school at Atlanta’s John Marshall law school where he finished in the top 10 in his class. The next year, Tyler attended Emory University School of Law where he ultimately graduated. While at Emory, Tyler was a member of the Supreme Court Advocacy Project – a student-ran organization that drafts briefs, and petitions for certiorari to the United States Supreme Court and other lower courts. Along with another third year student, Tyler helped write an amicus curie brief on behalf of 29 law professors nationwide on the importance of finality in adoption proceedings. The U.S. Supreme Court ultimately ruled in favor of Tyler’s side.
